This imposing hall in the centre
of the courtyard is located just
opposite to the fine gateway. The hall
was constructed in 1730 and has a
beautiful marble paved gallery which is
used occasionally on ceremonial gallery
which is used occasionally on ceremonial
events. Outside the hall are two huge
silver urns known as Gangajalis which
were used by Sawai Madho Singh, a devout
Hindu, to England in 1902 to attend the
coronation of King Edward VII. These
silver urns have been recorded in
“Guinness Book of World Records” as
being the largest silver objects. Each
Gangajali has a capacity of 8,182 liter,
and is about 345 kg in weight,
measuring 5 feet 3 inches in height and
a circumference of 14 feet 10 inches.
The urn could hold enough water for the
king to purify himself in the foreign
land. |
